The storm and the associated high winds mean Burghley House has closed its Parkland today,
as well as the Orangery Restaurant, Garden Cafe and visitor car park, and Stamford's market is reduced largely to traders with trailers and vans. However, Uppingham market is going ahead largely as normal, they say, although extra precautions are being taken for safety. Windspeeds have been recorded at Uppingham School at 45 miles an hour at their weather station and at Wittering 48 miles an hour around 7:00 this morning.
A service to mark Holocaust Memorial Day is expected to go ahead at 11:00am at St. Michael's Churchyard off Stamford High Street. Rutland Water say they are open, but to avoid their woodland areas and they will keep a close eye on the situation as it develops.
