Football:

Leicester City lost 2-1 in the lunch time kick off at home to 3rd placed Chelsea. Jordan Ayew scoring a late penalty for Leicester in the 95th minute

Peterborough United could not make it three home league wins in a row going down to their first home defeat in all competitions since August as they were beaten by Reading 2-1. Emmanuel Fernandez pulling a goal back in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

In the Premier Division of the Peterborough and District League, Uppingham Town are up to 2nd and extended their unbeaten league run to eight winning 3-1 at Sawtry thanks to a Josh Porter brace and a goal from Martin Turiccki.

Oakham United put in a good performance to pick up a useful point away at 4th placed FC Peterborough Reserves in a 3-3 draw. Oli Cox double and Josaia Raikoso with the goals.

Deeping United made it three wins on the bounce as they beat Leverington Sports 3-1 at home.

Cottesmore are out of the Everards Tigers League Cup after losing 10-0 at Whetstone Athletic in the 2nd round.

Women's Football:

Stamford AFC unbeaten run of six in the league ended in a tight game away at Chesterfield Ladies Firsts going down 2-1.

Laura Dodwell pulled a goal back 11 minutes from time leaving the hosts having to hold on to secure the win. The result means Stamford AFC replace Chesterfield in 4th whilst they go 2nd in the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division. 

Youth Football:

Due to the adverse weather conditions only two of our six featured games were played.

Cottesmore lost 3-1 at Oadby Owls U16 Juniors in the Leicestershire Youth League Under 16 Division 3, whilst in the Peterborough & District League Under 18 Division 1, Stamford Young Daniels won away at Park Farm Pumas U18 Blue 4-2.

Rugby:

Northampton Saints beat Coventry 19-10 to go top of Group B in the Premiership Rugby Cup as they ran in three tries from Hendy, Munga and Langdon and two Makepeace-Cubitt conversions. A reminder, the return round of matches will take place in February.

Women’s rugby:

Stamford Women warmed up for next weekend’s big game in the last sixteen of the Papa John’s Intermediate Cup away at Cannock Lionesses in great style beating Bletchley Women 60-0 in the Women's NC 1 East.

Ten tries were scored, three for Jorja Matchwick, Pip Andrew’s with two and one each for Gemma Alcoran, Catelyn Etherington, Suz Franks, Georgia Mackinlay and Sarah Matchwick. Daisy Attley with 5 conversions. Forward of the match was Catelyn Etherington and Back of the match Suz Frank.
