Football:

Leicester City’s unbeaten run has come to end losing 4-0 away at Newcastle United.

Peterborough United avoided four defeats in a row in a seven-goal thriller against Crawley Town as they won 4-3.

The Daniels could not make it consecutive home league wins losing 2-0 to Stratford.

In the Premier Division of the Peterborough and District League 2nd placed Uppingham Town extended their unbeaten run to ten with a 5-0 home win over Warboys Town. A Noah Sinclair hat-trick, Ollie Bardwell and Sam Blackwell.

Oakham United returned to winning ways and moved out of the bottom two beating 4th placed Whittlesey Athletic Reserves 4-3. Aidan Quinn, Josaia Raikoso, Sam Welford and Ben Weston on target.

Deeping Rangers Reserves lost 2-0 at FC Peterborough Reserves and Deeping United went down 6-2 away at Sawtry.

Stamford Belvedere in Division 1 beat Wisbech Town away 9-1 to complete the double over them. Jordan Neil hat-trick with a brace for Dave Atkinson and Louie Roberts and one each for Kieran Duffy-Weekes and George Warrington.

Deeping Rangers lost 3-0 at home to Heanor Town in the United Counties Premier Division North, whilst Blackstones in Division 1 made it three wins on the bounce 2-0 at Selston. The goals coming from Nathan Rudman and Jamie Short.

Bourne Town made it ten wins in a row in all competitions as they progressed to the 4th Round of the FA Vase after beating Northampton ON Chenecks away 2-1 thanks to goals from Zacorie Allen and Robbie Ellis.

Cottesmore drew 1-1 at home to Thurnby Rangers in the Everards Brewery Premier Division. Josh Clark had put them ahead early in the second half with visitors equalising late on.

Women’s football:

Stamford AFC lost an extremely tight game 1-0 at home to Mansfield Town with the only goal coming in the first half. The result sees them dropping from 4th to 5th.

Deeping Rangers went down 3-2 at home to League One Cambridge Rangers First in the quarter final of the Cambridgeshire Girls and Women's League Cup.

Youth Football:

Hinckley Borough 5 - 4 Oakham United in the Leicestershire Youth League Under 17 League Cup 2nd Round and in the Under 16 League Cup 3rd Round Loughborough Dynamo Junior Ambers 1-2 Cottesmore.

Leicester & District Sunday Juniors League Quorn Juniors U15 Terriers 7-1 Cottesmore.

Under 16 Division 2 - Stamford AFC Young Daniels U16 Yellow 3-3 Yaxley Black

Rugby:

Investec Champions Cup in Pool 1 Leicester Tigers run in eight tries at home as they beat the Sharks 56-17, whilst Northampton Saints made it two wins out of two in Pool 3 with a 30-21 victory over the Bulls in the altitude and heat of South Africa.

Counties 1 leaders Stamford bounced back from their defeat against Bourne last week in tremendous style at home as they trounced 3rd placed Biggleswade 50-10. Bourne could not make two wins in a row going down 35-3 away at Spalding.

Oakham made it back-to-back home wins in Counties 2 with a superb team performance against 2nd placed Dunstablians by 29 points to 25. The visitors had taken an 8-0 lead in the first ten minutes. All changed at the end of the half which included nine minutes of stoppage time as Oakham went up the gears scoring three tries. Ben Morton, Tom Beach and a superb individual try from Sam Weatherall, which was converted by Lewis Crellin to make it 17-8 at the break.

Oakham extended their lead with tries from Henry Bird and George Emerson that was converted by Will Begy and at the same time earning them a bonus point. The visitors fought back with two late tries but it was not enough to stop Oakham.

Stamford College Old Boys lost 37-8 at 4th placed Luton who ran in three quick tries at the start of the second half. A Jimmy Twose try and Carl-Brierley-Lewis penalty with the points for the Old Boys. Deepings game was a home walk over for Queens in Counties 3.

Women’s rugby:

Stamford Women secured a last-minute win 19-17 over Welwyn who they swap places with in the Women’s NC1 East to go 4th in their last fixture of 2024.

Sarah Mitchelson scored the try to bring the scores level at 17 all. It was then down to Liberty Ashdown with the conversion and indeed pressure to secure the win which she duly converted.

Earlier there were tries from Jess Gargan and Chantelle Miller with a conversion from Daisy Attley.
