Uppingham in Bloom has celebrated its 40th anniversary with the unveiling of a mosaic put together by the community, picturing the market.
It was unveiled yesterday by the mayor Liz Clark and sits on the opposite side of the road of Baines' Corner. It's mounted on stone from Finnemores. Sue Streeter from the group says it's seen lots of people come together to make it happen.
"We've had lots of volunteers working very, very hard to create this beautiful piece of artwork. We've had young and old and most of them were beginners. So they've all done remarkably well. And we had a tutor called Muni Arsalani, who's from Peterborough and she is a mosaic artist, and she has created the template for the stone. We've all worked with her to create it, and it's been quite a lot of hard work. So we're absolutely thrilled it's finished and hope everybody enjoys looking at it"
