County flag is flying at half mast outside Catmose House today as Rutland County Council pays its respects to Oakham councillor Hannah Edwards, who died suddenly this week.
Last night's overview and scrutiny committee meeting was also cancelled as a mark of respect. Leader Gale Waller says Councillor Edwards was a bright and enthusiastic person who is passionate about representing her constituents in Oakham and the wider Rutland community. She carried out her responsibilities with great care and consideration as well as bringing balance and good humour to discussions at the council. Councillor Edwards was also a teacher at Oakham School and will be missed by everyone who knew and worked with her, the leader said. A book of condolences is open at Oakham Library for anyone wishing to pay their respects.
