The location of the beach. Anglian Water say the late arrival of unbroken sunshine during the afternoon brought gridlock to the entrance on two separate occasions. Delays totalled 40 minutes for the drivers on the A606. The team at Rutland Water Park say the car park didn't actually close, but trying to get thousands of visitors into the site and off the main road did impact on the surroundings. Cars were seen parked all over the verges too as people tried to bypass the queues. The team there say it was the busiest day at the site for a long time.
