The rain helped them grow and this week's sun has help them ripen.
Ready for a busy pick your own weekend. The Rutland Water Fruit Farm has been between Manton and Edith Weston since the mid 90s. Owner Nick Makey says ‘It's been a funny year, but the weather has worked out in the end. We never seem to get any sun at all to start off with and, although we didn't have any frosts in April, we seem to have a lot of dull weather and we did wonder what sort of crop would end up waste. But in the end we started picking. The normal time beginning of May, so believe it or not we're into week eight now 3/4 of the way through the season, but this is when they are at their peak’.
