Two eggs have now been laid on the peregrine nest at Stamford All Saints church, after they beat the Rutland Ospreys to lay for the first time this year, on Friday.
The first egg was laid at 9:56 on Friday night and the second egg emerged exactly 54 hours later at 3:56 this morning. Last year the peregrines laid their first egg on the 25th April, however, they were expected to lay earlier this year as they continue to breed.
The peregrines first nested on the All Saints tower back in 2021, rearing two chicks that year. The birds generated great interest in the local community and so over the following winter two cameras, funded by donations from members of the church congregation, were installed overlooking the two turrets favoured by the birds.
