South Kesteven District Council has approved the Stamford North development.
However, because Sport England objected to proposals to move the Borderville Sports Centre training pitches, the decision could still be called in by the Secretary of State. The government has the option to do this for the next three weeks. The meeting, which lasted 4 hours, had many representations against the scheme for up to 1.350 homes, including many about traffic and the proposed removal of the acoustic bund, which was a planning condition of the Bournville Sports Centre which was built 10 years ago. Rutland County Council has not yet given permission for Quarry Farm, which sits next to Stamford North, providing another potential 650 homes.
