The Stamford Annual Mid Lent Fair opened yesterday to large crowds after an absence of three years due to Covid-19. One of the largest in the country, the fair was formally opened by Stamford's Town Mayor, Cllr Gloria Johnson, who read aloud the traditional conduct and responsibilities for all attending the event as laid down by King William IV in the 18th Century. The opening was blessed with glorious sunny spring weather and the mood on the streets was jubilant as locals enjoyed this much missed Spring event once again.
