Snow warning for the area tonight

Source: Rutland & Stamford Sound Facebook page

The chance of some snow across Rutland tonight has increased, as an area of low pressure moves in from the west.

The snow will be mostly over higher ground and is unlikely to accumulate much in the towns, but a slight covering is possible, says Rutland and Stamford Sound’s weatherman Phil Morrish.

‘i don't think we are going to have a lot of snow. I think it is too early for a lot of settling snow, but we’re just getting ready in case we have some. It doesn't take a lot of snow to cause some problems on the hills and on the roads around the area, so just in case’.

Lincolnshire’s gritters went out overnight once the rain had stopped, as temperatures dipped to near freezing.
