Second Stamford Scouts are underway with a 12 hour fundraiser to help build a new clubhouse.
They secured planning permission earlier this year for the sites on Empingham Road and now need to raise one and a half million pounds to bring the HQ to reality. As well as the sale of their other building on Drift Road, community fundraising is crucial to unlock larger grant funding. Leader Neil Scholes explains more about today's event, which runs until 8:00 PM in the foyer of Morrisons on Uffington Road in Stamford.
‘Not physically doing it, but we're going to have a couple of exercise bikes and we're going to Morrisons during the fundraising, trying to do 210 miles, which is the distance from Stamford to Brownsea Island which the first scout camp was.’
