Rutland's school sports provision saved by Uppingham Community College

School sports provision in Rutland has been saved by Uppingham Community College after Rutland County Council announced they wanted to stop being the host in the county.

It means there will be no interruption to events or competitions through this academic year. A full review will begin in March next year to look at the long term future. Principal of UCC, Ben Solly says they are pleased to be able to step in for the short term at least.

‘There was a tricky situation at the start of the academic year where the Rutland Sports Partnership where in a transitional phase from leaving control of the local authority and they were seeking a new host and the timing wasn't ideal and all parties involved wanted all the sports and activities to carry on as planned throughout the year. That was the most important thing and so we've worked in partnership with Active Together and other local schools to try and come up with a short term solution which makes sure all the activities go ahead as planned this year, so no primary school children in Rutland will miss out on the fantastic offer that they have’.
