It's World Mental Health Day and services in Rutland are coming together to show their range of support.
Peppers - A Safe Place has an open morning and the team are also outside Citizens Advice Rutland at the corner of Gaol Street in Oakham along with the Rise team, P3, Root And Branch Out, and the Neighborhood Mental Health Cafe, which is a new service funded by the NHS, providing immediate mental health support on a Thursday and Sunday evening within the Peppers building opposite the marketplace in Oakham.
Jo Tinker, who looks after the mental health cafe, says volunteers provide a listening ear, signposting, or just a cuppa.
"Just drop in during the open hours. We're there, we'll welcome you in, we'll make you a cup of coffee or tea. We'll sit down and you know, if you just want to stay in that safe space, that's fine. Or we can talk, that's fine as well, you know, or we can get you some different type of support. But yeah, you don't need a referral. It's self-referral. It's very laid back, very friendly, very open, very welcoming. And it is, it's a safe space."
