Rutland Christmas Gift Appeal helps hundreds

Rob Persani and some of Oakham Fire & Rescue staff who helped with the appeal delivery

Oakham, Uppingham and Melton Fire Stations, in partnership with Voluntary Action Rutland distributed hundreds of gifts to people in need, and to people who help others in the community. The appeal had support from Lands End, and collections from Kevin O'Brien and Tesco. Hear the reaction of some of them on our visit around Oakham with the Fire & Rescue team.

Voluntary Action Rutland worked on referrals from agencies including Rutland County Council, the Fire service responded to individual nominations sent to them from members of the community.  It's the first time the two appeals have come together.  We spent just a short time accompanying the deliveries, which went across the county, with one of their Oakham trips.  Hear from some people helping the community, some facing health problems and all very grateful to be thought of this Christmas:
