New Veterans’ Hub opens in Oakham today

The Veterans' Wellbeing Hub

A new drop-in hub opens today in Oakham for military veterans, offering friendly support to those who have served their country. The hub will run alongside existing support services like the Veterans’ Breakfast Club, which has been operating in Oakham for over four years.

A new Veterans’ Wellbeing Hub launches today in Oakham. The Drop-in at the Whipper In, in Market Place, Oakham adds extra support to the other services available in the area, including the monthly Breakfast Club which has now been going for just over four years.

The new Hub opens between 10am and 1230pm on the second Wednesday of the month from now on. Founder of the Breakfast Club, Mark Taylor, says both initiatives are part of the continuous ongoing support to our military community.

“The support is ongoing – once a veteran, always a veteran!” says Mark. “If we can affect someone’s life in a positive way, whether that be just over a breakfast or doing a bit of shopping or whatever, we are always here to lend that support.”

Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr Sarah Furness, says that the new hub in Oakham welcomes anyone with a military connection in the same way as the Breakfast Club, offering friendly and informal support.
