Local man running to raise funds for EMICS

A Rutland based charity is stepping up its fundraising as sponsorship for their fast response car comes to an end. Nick Taylor is running the Rutland 10k on Saturday 24 June for EMICS hoping to beat his time when he was 48, having just turned 70.

He says the charity inspired him: "I always think of it as air ambulance on wheels. The fact that it is totally voluntary, the people who offer their service and time, but obviously it costs money to get each volunteer doctor on to the road. So I know that whatever I can raise will directly assist to get that next volunteer doctor equipped and on the road. So the more people who can donate for my run, the more money will go through to Tim and EMICS." https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nick-at-70-v-nick-at-48
Dr Tim Grey, chairman of the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme, says all the fundraising for them directly helps:  "It makes a huge difference. As a charity, nobody's paid so we don't have wages to find but we do have to provide equipment for our doctors, equipment for our fast response vehicle, and the money that is donated is used for that. We've had fantastic support from all sorts of organisations, from very small organisations to huge organisations. But every single donation is really appreciated and used wisely." https://emics.org.uk
