The founder of the highly successful food bank ‘Second Helpings’, will be out delivering food and presents to those most in need from today. George Hetherington says that, thanks to kind donations, he aims to bring a complete Christmas to those who otherwise may not have had one.
A food hub on a housing estate, based in Stamford, is delivering Christmas from today. George’s Food Hub, based at St Augustin’s School on Kesteven Road, has outreach on a Tuesday at Stamford Free Church, with soup, and also has been gifted a number of turkeys as well as presents. Founder George Hetherington is delivering these, as well as some of the general donated food, to people most in need - ready for the big day:
“We didn’t expect it,” says George “but it looks like we’re going to get a few turkeys. Wednesday, Thursday I’ll be out delivering [these] to the homes. We will take with us fruit and vegetables to help make it a complete meal, not just a turkey, and we’ve had presents donated from the local rotary club and others so hopefully we’re delivering a complete Christmas Day package to some people who wouldn’t have had that.”
