A five star eventer who grew up near Stamford, says entering the Defender Burghley Horse Trials for the first time is a dream come true.
The competition, which begins two weeks today, has 76 pairs representing ten nations. Nicole Mills is riding Fearless W across three disciplines. A horse she's worked with for many years.
‘I've had the horse since he was 5. He's 14 this year and I've produced him since he was a 5 year old. He's very special. He's been to Chatsworth, he's been to Brandon, he's been to Blenheim and he's got a couple of good placings at 4 star level. Burghley is iconic, isn't it? I live 3 miles away. I went to Stamford High School and Junior School so it's my local event and I just think it's an unbelievable achievement just to get here and you know the guys that do this year in, year out, they're amazing. It's incredible how they keep these horses on the road and fit. You know, doing it, it is quite a feat.’
