A Rutland farmer says he supports the Government's inheritance tax policy in principle, but it should have been tiered depending on the size of the farm.
Andrew Brown says no one should be avoiding tax, but it needs to be realistic for farm income, especially with the uncertainties around other parts of their industry.
‘Well, the principle of taxing large land owners who are only large land owners to avoid heritance tax to me sounds perfectly plausible. But then what's going to happen here is that smaller family farms are going to be brought into this tax bracket and ultimately it might mean that those family farms are broken up’.
