The project at Easton on the Hill, has grown to nearly three times as many young adults now being involved than a year ago.
A project run by young people with Downs has celebrated its first birthday. Birch Tree Café which is in part of old Easton Garford School at Easton on the Hill has a café front of house, but also teaches life skills, food preparation and hopes to encourage independent living for some of its members. It has an an outside area including a greenhouse, and there are ambitions to have a workshop in the future. Local companies have also supported the £250,000 project, including Screwfix and Cummins, who paid for new gates as well as supporting other parts of the outside area.
