Happy 1st Birthday Birch Tree Cafe!

The project at Easton on the Hill, has grown to nearly three times as many young adults now being involved than a year ago.

A project run by young people with Downs has celebrated its first birthday.  Birch Tree Café which is in part of old Easton Garford School at Easton on the Hill has a café front of house, but also teaches life skills, food preparation and hopes to encourage independent living for some of its members.  It has an an outside area including a greenhouse, and there are ambitions to have a workshop in the future.  Local companies have also supported the £250,000 project, including Screwfix and Cummins, who paid for new gates as well as supporting other parts of the outside area.  Maggie Scott, Chair of T21 who run the project looks back at the past year:
