Feedback on parking charges

South Kesteven District Council is consulting on proposals to increase its parking charges

in Stamford and Grantham after three years without an increase in price. An hour in the short stay car park in Stamford will rise to £1.50, with over 4 hours up to £8 in a short stay car park but £5 in a long stay car park in the town. Over 140 more spaces will be added by expanding the Cattle Market car park along with electric vehicle charging points, as portfolio holder for property Councillor Richard Cleaver explains.

‘143 additional spaces going in on what is now an ugly waste ground site adjoining the Cattle Market car park, sitting there looking very ugly for a long, long time. It's going to be 143 places going in there. Planning permission which is going through for that. The funding is in place. They should be done in the spring and they will include eight additional EV charging points as well’.

Grantham meanwhile, in a bid to encourage more shoppers, is offering at least one hour free parking, with one car park 2 hours free. Consultation on parking runs on the South Kesteven District Council website until the 20th of January.
