A multi-charity Christmas card shop has opened its doors in Stamford this week. Cards for Good Causes, which started in the town in 1999, lists the town's St John's Church as one of its top five performers each year out of around 300 outlets.
The shop within the church is open seven days a week until the week before Christmas. It's staffed mainly by volunteers. Around 10, 000 customers are expected. Co-manager Kate Riley says there's more than just cards from 43 charities:
"All the goods that we have in this year, nearly all of them are new and fresh and the prices have mostly stayed the same. Cards for Good Causes has always tried to source the best price. Many of them this year are made in the UK. One of our old favourites is the Advent Candle that comes from Cornwall. And our toy range in particular has been refreshed, and now we have many more traditional toys. Some of them are wooden. We have a pull along wooden train. We have marbles. We've even got plasticine. So for those of you who want to relive your youth through your grandchildren, please do come in and pick some up."
