The event, which returns to Rutland Water, has a new site at Lyndon Top this year.
All ticket money will help a conservation project in Egypt. The event has raised over £42 million to help wildlife since it started in the late 80s back at Eggleton. Often referred to as the birder's Glastonbury the event opens next Friday the 12th of July for three days and attracts visitors from around the world. Founder of the Global Birdfair, Tim Appleton says being near the reservoir has its advantages.
‘Now we're on the edge of Rutland Water and in fact quite close to the reserve where, of course, the Ospreys are. So for a lot of people, I think it would be funny, very exciting coming here at the weekend, particularly people from far afield. Whether they're coming from Taiwan or from Argentina or wherever it might be around the world. Of course, I think it's over 55 countries representing, you know, coming from one single tiny county. And you know, we want them to enjoy Rutland. We want them to enjoy the countryside around us and what better place than Lyndon Top’.
