Birch Tree Cafe is awarded the Rose of Northamptonshire

Birch Tree Cafe in Easton on the Hill has been presented with a Rose of Northamptonshire award

in recognition of its contribution to the local community and its work with adults with Down syndrome. The award scheme started in lockdown to recognise unsung heroes and is a collaboration between the council, the Community Foundation and the Lord Lieutenancy.  An anonymous local nomination led to their award which was presented by a Deputy Lieutenant of Northamptonshire yesterday. Trustee of the T-21 charity that operates Birch Tree Cafe, Miranda Rock, says it's in recognition of their place in the village.

‘To know that someone from the immediate facility, we don't know who nominated us for this award from the village of Easton on the Hill and I think what we've seen running the cafe over the last three years is that we've really become part of life in Easton on the Hill, that's what we always hoped for. And our neighbours support us by becoming volunteers and enjoy the events that we put on here and our regulars and we're immensely grateful to them and it's very nice that they've thought to nominate us and raise our profile with the Lieutenancies’.
