A new quieter shed has been officially opened at Bourne’s Don't Lose Hope Community Garden.
The little shed is a space away from the main workshop shed where people can reflect and also get counselling. It was funded by donations. Founder of the community garden and shared project Dom Brister says the need for it has grown with their project.
‘250 people a week that walk through the gate now. And with all the machines and the ventilation that we've gotta have, it creates a lot of noise. It creates a lot of dust for guys with COPD and breathing issues. And ultimately, yeah, for some guys it's a bit busy, you know, guys with PTSD or guys with social anxiety. They like it when it's quiet, they want to be in a space where there's other people but maybe it's a bit too much and ultimately it gives them somewhere they can dip out, still be part of it and then dip back in again when they feel ready’.
