Try tennis for free at Uppingham open day

People from Uppingham and beyond who want to have a go at playing tennis are invited to an open day on Sunday April 27 at Uppingham Community College (UCC).
The open day runs from 10am to 1pm, with free coaching, and is suitable for players aged 13 and above who have any level of previous experience of playing tennis, or no experience at all.
Members of the community club Rutland Tennis Academy Uppingham, based at UCC, will be on hand to welcome people to the four newly repainted courts and the clubhouse.
RTA Uppingham’s qualified coaches will give free taster sessions to either introduce new players to the basics or encourage existing or past players to develop their skills. Rackets can be borrowed on the day.
Committee chair Andy Gilgrist said: “Anyone interested in playing tennis is warmly invited to come along to UCC between 10am and 1pm on 27 April, meet the members and coaches, pick up a racket and have a go. No need to book, just turn up at any time to join in.
“Tennis is a great sport for getting and keeping fit, enjoying meeting new people, developing new skills and joining in with the social side of a thriving community club.
“The club is home to a wide variety of players, including new starters of a wide range of ages and ‘rusty racket’ returners who last played at school. The emphasis is on being active in the outdoors, enjoying the great game of tennis and, above all, having fun.”
