We are recruiting a Part-time Business Development Officer

Rutland and Stamford Sound launched in March 2021 as a not-for-profit community radio station with the aim of improving wellbeing by making people feel more connected with their local area. Over the past three and a half years we have built a loyal and growing following of listeners who enjoy the music and value the station as a reliable source of local news and information. In May this year we added a DAB service to our existing online, smart speaker and mobile phone app listening options. We are now seeking to recruit a part-time Business Development Officer who will help us to build our long-term financial and operational sustainability.

The key responsibilities will be to:

  • Strengthen our engagement with local businesses, with an emphasis on activities that deliver long-term revenue generation. This will require the role holder to spend time visiting businesses for face-to-face meetings.
  • Develop our already existing strong relationships with local community organisations, with a focus on joint projects and funding bids that will benefit all parties.
  • Work with the Station Manager and the Board to identify the key areas of resource risk from a business continuity perspective and then assist the Board with producing an action plan to address the risks.

If appropriate, we will consider splitting the role across two part-time positions. We are seeking one or two individuals who are good at planning and organising their own workload. The role can largely be done from home, but the role holder(s) must be able to travel across the Rutland and Stamford area, to attend meetings with local businesses and community groups.

We are grateful to the Ofcom Community Radio Fund for its support with funding this role for a period of twelve months. The role is initially being offered as a twelve-month contract but will be extended depending on financial targets being achieved.

Applications must be received by Tuesday 24 September. To express an interest in joining the friendly team at your local community radio station, and to obtain further information, please provide your details below.:
