About Rutland & Stamford Sound
Originating from a project supported by Rutland County Council to evaluate the feasibility of a new Community Radio station for the local area, our focus is to support the communities of Rutland, Stamford and the surrounding area. Rutland and Stamford Sound has local content, local presenters, local stories and local involvement in every aspect of its operations.
We have built on the best aspects of the original Rutland Radio whilst embracing new broadcast methodologies to serve both traditional and new audiences, with great music and a distinctly local feel.
Our Project Manager and Breakfast Presenter is local legend Rob Persani. With Rob’s enthusiasm, experience, audience loyalty and knowledge of the area second to none, we have got off to a great start!
The station is governed by an independent Community Interest Company (Rutland and Stamford Sound CIC). The Board and management team are all volunteers, local people with business, broadcasting and community experience. We will be publicly accountable for our operations, transparent on how we use our funds and will undertake regular engagement with the local community. Our staff and volunteers all operate to OFCOM standards of best practice.
Our aim is to adapt and continue to grow in a financially sustainable way that means we will be here to support the Rutland and Stamford area for many years to come.
We look forward to this exciting journey and thank Rutland County Council as well as each and every one of you for your support along the way!
